If Arctic Adventures: Polar's Puzzles seems strangely familiar, that's because it should be. Last December saw the release of Polar Panic, a puzzle action game on XBLA and PSN starring Polar, who used blocks of ice to crush evil loggers and such. Polar Panic also featured a less confrontational Puzzle mode, which has now made its way to PlayStation Minis as Arctic Adventures: Polar's Puzzles.

Instead of some good old fashioned logger-crushing, Arctic Adventures focuses on an arcade interpretation of the slide puzzle. As Polar, you'll push a variety of different types of blocks in a variety of different situations for a variety of reasons.

OK, so it sounds a little boilerplate, but it's more interesting in practice than it sounds. Each puzzle has a different focus and different hazards to get in the way of successfully completing the stage. Some stages will require you to use an explosive crate to set off a chain reaction of explosions, but if you don't set it off in the correct area, you'll fail to free yourself from your enclosed prison to make it to said exit. And if you're not careful, you can also blow yourself up in the process. Other hazards include puzzles that take place on a ship that require you to keep weight on more than a dozen pressure panels; to do so, you'll need to push crates both to activate those panels and trap barrels rolling across the deck on other panels while also sliding finicky ice blocks onto even more panels. Oh, and those rolling barrels? They'll squash you.

The game, Mod Nation Racers, is a kart racer in Sony's "Play. Create. Share." genre of games. Like LittleBigPlanet the focus is user content.

Stylized characters in the style of the vinyl figurines like Mighty Muggs. They're customizable, with mods, or full on outfit changes. The developers showed off a monkey character, as well as a Hellraiser-esque character.

The cars are also customizable, and the developers showed off classic style convertible and a pink dune buggy. You can completely customize your racer and their vehicle. They parts are all predefined, so it's fairly similar to how the creating stuff in LBP works, but you can make them a little more unique since they don't have to be a Sackboy.

Racing is pretty standard kart racing. Jumps, weapons, boosting and drifting. The style is cartoony, but there's a lot of 3D detail in the environments, character, explosions, etc. The racing is pretty fast and frantic.

There's also track creation, done in a nearly realtime way. Players "fly" through the map and the game paints a track behind the car. The thing is really fast, and the developers created a short, simple track in about 10 seconds.

The tracks are fully customizable and things like the track surface can be changed much in the same way they're created, so players can decide how much of what surface to use. Environmental controls are also available. Point and click mountain and water creation that alters the track as the player changes the landscape. If you add a mountain the ground gradually builds up, and the track starts to incline to match. You can add trees, add sheep, and other things by "painting" them onto the ground. Players can also change the sunlight settings. The level of customization on this is deeper than any track creation game we've seen for a kart racer.

GUIDE FOR THOSE WHO ARE HAVING TROUBLE!
There is always going to be someone who doesn't quite understand how to get the game running. If you are one of these people, this guide is for you!

1) UnRAR/Extract the archive using WinRAR (if you don't have WinRAR, you can download it off this forum: check the PC Applications Download section).

2) After extraction, there will be an ISO file and a folder titled DATA-v5. Move the ISO file to the ISO folder found on you PSP.

3) Now you are left with the other folder after extraction (the DATA-v5 folder.) If you open this up, there will be two more folders: one titled KHBBS and another titled seplugins. Leave the 'seplugins' folder alone for now, and copy the 'KHBBS' folder (the FOLDER, not just the stuff inside) to the root of your memory stick (if you don't know what the 'root' of your memory stick is, it's the section that appears directly after accessing your memory stick and contains your PSP, ISO, seplugins, etc. folders.).

4) The next step next step depends on whether the root of your memory stick has an 'seplugins' folder or not, and whether you are using it. If you have this folder, proceed to step 4a. If you do not have this folder, proceed to step 4b. Remember, if you already have an 'seplugins' folder on the root of your memory stick, you DO NOT NEED THE ONE PROVIDED IN THE DATA-v5 ARCHIVE PROVIDED BY ME.

4a) Okay, so you already have the folder. Open up your 'seplugins' folder found in the root of your PSP memory stick. Once opened, find the game.txt file (you can open it open it with Notepad). From here, add the following lines to the bottom of the text.

ms0:/KHBBS/KHBBS_patch.prx 1

4b) If you're reading this, that means you don't have an 'seplugins' folder. If this is the case, go back to the files you extracted earlier, and just copy the 'seplugins' folder provided by me on the root of your memory stick.

5) Reset your PSP while holding the R button. Check the 'plugins' section of the recovery menu to check whether the 'ms0:/KHBBS/KHBBS_patch.prx' is set to ON.

6) On the XMB of you PSP (main menu), press SELECT and make sure that your settings are set to:
