UPGRADE YOUR PSP to 5.50 GEN-D3 (4.0m33 and above)

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PSP-1000 or PSP slim with V1 or V2 mobo. I have seen people bricking their PSP because of not reading instructions. THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH PSP SLIM with v3 mobo and PSP 3000.

It has only been a few weeks time since the release of Gen-D2 which gave hope to all PSP custom firmware players to play newer games that require the 5.55 official firmware a new set of games like:

has been released which is not compatible with our old Gen-D2 firmware. TeamGEN Announced the release of GEN D3 and now it is HERE! It allows us to play the new games as well as have the compatibility to play our older ISO.

HERE ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS:

Make sure you are using a PSP 1000 or PSP 2000 v1 and v2 only (NO V3 Mobos) with 4.01 m33 Firmware or higher.
Sorry PSP 3000 users this will not work for you.

1. Download the Gen-D3 pack DOWNLOAD LINK HERE or MIRROR

2. Extract the files using WINRAR or winzip

3. Connect Your PSP to the PC via the USB

4. Copy the file "550.pbp" to the root of your memory stick or ms0:/

5. Browse the extracted files and Copy the folder named "UPDATE" to your PSP at ms0:/PSP/GAME

6. Disconnect your PSP from your PC.

7. Using Your PSP, run XGen Updater for 5.50GEN-D3.

8. Follow the onscreen instructions.

9. Enjoy your newly updated PSP.

NOTES:

NEW ISOs do not need to be patched to be played.
Old ISOs are still compatible with your PSP.
Paste your ISO game files at ms0:/ISO (if the folder does not exist then create one)

HOW TO REPAIR CRC FAILED ERROR in RAR FILES

CRC ERROR in downloads from MEDIAFIRE is a common problem to the download links. Sometimes NO MATTER how many times you download the parts of RAR files. The CRC ERROR still pops up and annoyingly disrupts the decompression of files. This is due to the fact that MEDIAFIRE often corrupts the files uploaded and is not due to the fault of the uploader. However this problem could be resolved using the REPAIR ARCHIVE option from WINRAR. Read more from this article to view the tutorial.

YOU MUST HAVE WINRAR installed to repair damaged archives. get it from: http://rarlab.com

1. First download the file with all the parts from your download link.
2. Put all the parts in the same folder to avoid confusion.


3. Right Click any of the file ( in this case *.part1) and choose EXTRACT HERE


4. A new window will appear showing the extraction of the archive.


5. If there is a damaged archive a diagnostic window from WINRAR will appear. Wait until the extraction is completed and take note of the corrupted archives in the list. In this particular case part2 and part3 is corrupted. Press Close.

6. Now that we know the archives that are damaged it is time to repair them. Double click the corrupted part to open them in winrar. On WINRAR press alt+r or click tools>repair archive.

7. Choose the correct archive type and save the repaired archive to the same folder of the old files. (e.g. D:/New Folder). Press OK

8. Wait until the recovery is finished and click close. You could now also close winrar.

9. A new file will appear on the folder you specified named as "fixed.filename.part*".


10. Now, delete the old file that you have repaired.

11. Rename the new file and delete the affixed "fixed." on its file name.



12. Try to extract the file again as in procedure #1. If there is still a corrupted part REPEAT the same procedure to the other damaged archive part.

14. Congratulations! You can now extract the archive successfully.

UPGRADE/UPDATE to 5.50 GEN-D2

PSP 5.50 Gen-D play games that needs 5.55 or 6.0 official firmwares. NO NEED for patching because 5.50 Gen-D already contains the decryptor needed to play newer games. This new firmware plays all other PSP ISOs just like your old firmwares plus it also plays patched and non-patched newest games like Gran Turismo, G.I. Joe, Smackdown VS Raw 2010, NBA 2K10 and many more! Download this update and save yourself from doing the hassle from patching these games. PSP DECRYPTOR: PLAY EVERY 5.55 GAME on your PSP

The release of the 5.55 firmware has caused problems throughout the whole PSP homebrew community. All PSP owners who would like to play their game backups could not play on their custom firmware many owners had their heart broken because almost all of the good games that got released requires the official 5.55 official version. Many gamers really thought that the 5.0 m33 firmware and the 5.50 gen firmwares would become obsolete with the release of these newer games. Many prayed hard for a release of the newest custom firmware which could be a 5.55 or a 6.0 which they thought is the only solution that they could play their game backups. However, a shocking turn of events came up with the release of PSP Game Decrypter.

PSP Game Decrypter is a tool that could be used for us, the homebrew users to play UMD backups, while still having the custom firmware and not be obliged to install the 5.55 or 6.0 firmware.

Here is the tutorial on how to use PSP GAME DECRYPTER

SOFTWARE/TOOLS to be needed:
PSP GAME DECRYPTER DOWNLOAD
UMDGEN DOWNLOAD

1. DOWNLOAD the tools above and unzip/unrar UMDGEN.
2. DOWNLOAD and EXTRACT PSP GAME DECRYPTOR above and paste the folder named GameZDecryptZ to your PSP at ms0:/PSP>GAME.

Using your computer Run UMDGen and open your untouched/original ISO.
3. AT UMDGEN Click FILE>FILE LIST>EXPORT (save the exported file)
4. Close UMDGen. Reopen UMDGen. Open your untouched ISO again.
5. Using UMDGen Browse your ISO to PSP_GAME>SYSDIR
6. Right Click and Extract EBOOT.BIN.

7. Place the EBOOT.BIN you extracted to the root of your memory stick or ms0:/
8. Disconnect PSP from the computer.
9. Using your PSP Via the PSP Game menu run GAME DECRYPTER. Press X to decrypt.
10. Reconnect PSP to the computer and browse the memory stick. There is a new folder named decryptor. Inside the folder is an EBOOT.BIN File (this is the patched EBOOT.)
11. Copy the EBOOT.BIN File (patched) and via UMDGEN replace the Original ISO eboot with the patched EBOOT.
12. Go to FILE>FILE LIST> IMPORT
13. IMPORT the file you just exported/saved using STEP # 3. The program will warn about forced positions. Press ACCEPT.
14. Rebuild ISO using the save button. (It is better to make a new ISO file)
15. Copy your new ISO to your memory stick like any other normal ISO.
16. Congratulations Your ISO is now working with GEN!

FOR PSP with firmware 5.0 m33-6 and PSP 3000 users with cfw 5.03

UPDATE 5.0 m33-6 to 5.50 GEN-B

The release of the 5.55 official firmware has caused an alarm to PSP homebrew community. Many newly released games has been made to be only compatible to the 5.55 official firmware and above. Weeks had passed and still the PSP homebrew community are still waiting up to now for a release of a new Custom firmware (CFW) for 5.55 and 6.0. We are still waiting for the release from Dark Alex or the PSP Gen team. It may be hard to decrypt the new official firmwares. However with the release of the GAME DECRYPTER V2, it is now possible to play newer games like: G.I. Joe, Naruto Shippuden Akatsuki Rising, Gran Turismo and many more.

With the use of the Game Decrypter PSP gamers could now play these games that require OFW 5.55 and up using the GEN custom firmware. This tutorial will show PSP owners on how to update their PSP system to 5.50 gen-B.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• only patched versions of games that require 5.55 can run at 5.50 GEN-B
• if you are using 5.50 gen-B and still unable to play the patched games please try changing the umd mode to SONY NP9660 from m33 driver.
• ISO games that require lower firmware from 5.55 are still compatible with CFW 5.50 GEN-B.
• almost all plugins still work with 5.50 GEN-B
  

HERE IS THE TUTORIAL:

1. Make sure you are using a PSP 1000 or PSP 2000 v1 and v2 only. Sorry PSP 3000 users this will not work for you. This requires a PSP with firmware of 3.71 m33 or higher.

2. Download the 5.50 GEN-A full update from mediafire.com

3. Extract the files using winrar or winzip and browse the folder until you see the folder named UPDATE

4. Connect your PSP to a computer via the usb.

5. Copy the UPDATE folder to your PSP at ms0:/PSP/GAME

6. Disconnect the PSP from the computer and run the 5.50 GEN-A updater at your PSP.

7. Follow the on-screen instructions at your PSP.

8. After the update you will have a PSP system of 5.50 Gen-A

9. Now download the PSP 5.50 Gen-B update from mediafire.

HOW TO PLAY ISO GAMES in YOUR PSP 3000 or PSP SLIM with TA-088V3

Yes guys, it has been done. A new enabler for custom firmware to play ISO files and run homebrew on your PSP has been made possible. Introducing ChickHEN (credits to its makers) and CFWenabler. Now those people who are itching to play ISO game backups on their PSP 3000s and with TA-088V3 slim motherboards can play it just like old psp slim and phat CFW users. Here is an easy and brief tutorial on how to use ChickHEN and CFW for those owners of PSP-3000, TA-088v3 owners, and those people who doesn't want to install CFW on their precious PSPs permanently.

What you need:
a PSP-3000 or a PSP Slim with 5.03 firmware
(any slim PSP will do even with or without a TA088v3 motherboard)

(if you don't have the 5.03 firmware you could download the update here)
5.03 update MEDIAFIRE LINK
rename 503.pbp to eboot.pbp and paste to ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE
and the run update via the xmb.

the PSP will restart and if you're successful, ChickHEN is Enabled.

also, you could verify if chickHEN is enabled by browsing to
SETTINGS>SYTEM SETTINGS>SYSTEM INFORMATION
the system software should say 5.03 ChickHEN R2
(if it isn't repeat browsing to the chickhen folder in photos)



TO RUN CFWENABLER
After loading up in ChickHEN R2
browse to GAME>MEMORY STICK>CFWENABLER3.30
open and agree to flash (once only) and install
the PSP will restart and now you have custom firmware to play your beloved ISOs.
Do not download and play games that you do not own an ISO of.

ISSUES and BUGS
After a hard reset or if the battery is removed from the PSP will revert back to the official firmware. Just run ChickHEN again to start CFWenabler and have a custom firmware again. you do not need to reflash again and the PSP will restart by itself loading m33 on its bootup.

SOLUTION for "the game could not be started" ERROR
just open the vshMenu (press select on the XMB)
set the NO umd mode to Sony Np9660
